"Scarlett"

12.5"H x 6.5"W - Sycamore.

The color on this vase is wine red; dry powdered aniline dye mixed with water. Difficult to get the light just right for the photo, but it turns out the reflections highlight the color and finish well.

"Bamboozle"

8.75" W x 4" H - Walnut, Bamboo

The walnut and bamboo turned and sanded well together. People always ask what is the light-colored wood, and it's fun to answer that it's not wood, it's grass! I plan to make more grass pieces in the future.

"Sapphire"

9.5" H x 6.5" W - Quarter-sawn birch and walnut.

My first attempt at dying the curve of each segment; makes interesting color patterns; blended light-to-dark shades with steel wool spinning on the lathe.

"Having Fun"

Getting a good glue joint when gluing two sections together is crucial. I figured there had to be an easier way. Then it hit me...

I hope you have as much fun viewing this whimsical piece as I had making it.
