My name is Lou Landry, and I own Ocean Point Woodturning. Woodworking has been part of my professional and personal life for over 50 years.

After a long career in boatbuilding, I retired at age 69 and decided to try bowl turning. I saw photos of segmented bowls on the Internet and thought “That looks interesting!” I bought my first lathe shortly after, and have been turning bowls ever since.

I turn solid bowls – live edge, burls, sets – and segmented bowls and vases. I enjoy turning segmented pieces most, especially open segmented types, which have become my specialty.

I sell my creations in my own gallery, which works out well as customers enjoy the workshop atmosphere and the smell of wood. Customers are welcome to observe parts of the process, and I am happy to answer questions or illustrate particular steps in creating segmented bowls.

Please keep an eye on this space, as I will be posting more photos and descriptions of my works.
